In the past, the "tennis" stripe was worn mainly by bankers. Thanks to this suit they could project confidence and an elegance that set them apart from everyone else. This pattern was borrowed from the world of sport: it belonged to rowing uniforms. Later, the striped suit was often seen in the speakeasies during Prohibition in the United States. It was common to see gangsters such as Al Capone or jazz musicians wearing a striped suit.
These days the level of comfort has changed. We live in rooms that are heated in winter and air conditioned in summer. The temperature is therefore almost the same all year round. The fibres that make up our clothes are suited to this way of life. For a suit, it is better to choose natural materials. Wool is a wise choice: here is a natural fibre with many advantages, as it is elastic, supple and insulating, it is a material that breathes and it does not stain easily. Its high moisture content gives it another virtue: it does not hold dust because it does not create static electricity. It is a material that is very easy to dye and that holds its colours well.
It is for all these reasons that wool is today the material found most often in the composition of clothing. It is lighter than it used to be and it can be worn in every season. So choosing a wool suit is a very good choice.
